Orpheus and Euridice

This is my entry for my friend 's Art Jam - Week 4, for the theme "Star-Crossed Lovers". I've chosen Orpheus and Euridice.
Orpheus, the legendary musician, was so overcome with grief at the accidental death of his wife Euridice that he went down into the underworld and charmed Hades, the God of Death, with his music. He was granted permission to bring back Euridice into the world of the living, but on one condition : that he would not look back on her as she followed him. When Orpheus was out of the depths of hell, he turned joyfully to her, but it was too soon: Euridice faded with a whispered farewell as he reached to her with loving arms, and so he lost her a second time, and forever.

This is how I imagine the moment when Orpheus, turning back too soon to look at her, loses Euridice on the threshold between the world of the living and the underworld. I wanted something stylized which reminded a bit of the old medieval and Celtic illustrations, even though it's a Greek legend.
